LUCENA CITY—The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) suspended on Monday, Dec. 30, the operations of small vessels in the northern part of Quezon province due to rough sea conditions.
The PCG in northern Quezon, in an advisory issued at 5:30 a.m., cited the 5 a.m. forecast by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on the prevailing “strong to gale-force winds associated with the northeast monsoon” as reasons behind the suspension.
Article continues after this advertisementThe PCG noted that the current weather conditions are “expected to affect the northern and eastern coast of the Polillo Islands, the northern coast of Panukulan, the northeastern coast of Burdeos, the northern Patnanungan coast, and the northern and eastern coast of Jomalig.”

Polillo Island, facing the Pacific Ocean in the northern part of Quezon, hosts Polillo, Burdeos, and Panukulan towns.

The suspension order would be lifted, and sea travel for small vessels may be resumed when the weather or sea conditions permit, as may be declared by Pagasa, the PCG said.
