Sharon Cuneta and Kiko Pangilinan looked back on their 28-year marriage, admitting several instances in which they almost ended it due to “conflicts” caused by politics.
The couple opened up about this during an interview with broadcaster Karen Davila held at the former’s farm house in Cavite. Their conversation was shared by Davila through a vlog on her YouTube page on Thursday, Jan. 9.

“Over the years, mga nakailang beses na rin kaming muntikan. Siguro pag na-aaffect kami ng mga outside na distractions — ng trabaho, tsaka ayaw na ayaw ko ng pulitika,” Cuneta said.
fruit partyArticle continues after this advertisementCuneta then recounted being told by Pangilinan, who is running for senator in the 2025 elections, that he values politics like how the actress-singer values performing.
Article continues after this advertisement“Naiinis ako nung una kasi akala ko show biz was intrusive na, pero mas intrusive ang pulitika,” she said.
By the closing bell, the Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) shed 0.41 percent, or 30.44 points, to 7,428.30.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said Friday that the country’s general wholesale price index (GWPI) slowed to 1.9 percent in August from the previous month’s 2.4 percent. On the other hand, the general retail price index (GRPI) in Metro Manila eased to 1.4 percent from 1.9 percent.
Article continues after this advertisement“Parang ang nangyayari, ako pa-wind down na, tapos siya parang pagulo na naman. So nagkakaroon kami ng clashes at conflicts, but never kaming sumuko at never kaming tumigil ng pagdarasal,” she stated.
Cuneta stressed that it also helped that they have a “lot of respect for each other” and that the two of them are from different fields.
Article continues after this advertisementPangilinan, for his part, underscored that he prioritizes his family and marriage above anything else — a factor that he and Cuneta both give importance to.
“Ako simple lang—ginagawa niya ‘yung gusto niya at ginagawa ko ‘yung gusto niya… Ang last word ko is ‘Yes, dear,'” he quipped.
“Siya ang ibig sabihin ng buhay ko. Walang saysay ang buhay ko kung wala siya,” he added, referring to his wife.

Cuneta and Pangilinan have three children together, namely Frankietiger go, Miel and Miguel. Cuneta also has an elder daughter, actress KC Concepcion, with her former actor husband Gabby Concepcion.
